The wide variety and availability of resources, mainly during bamboo's short growth period of just two or three years before it becomes timber (and a long-term business), means this plant can grow up to three feet tall overnight. Bamboo also regenerates quickly, so once you harvest the plants for use as clothing or furniture, they are replaced with new ones again. This makes bamboo a sustainable resource for textiles--not only because it is environmentally friendly, but because these materials will naturally degrade when left in soil without polluting the environment after decomposition.
